Dick Mochow “Volunteer of the Year” Award
Matthew Harris was the recipient of the Dick Mochow “Volunteer of the Year” Award for the V&E Greenline 2025. He was presented this award at the VECA annual meeting at Rhodes College.
Each year, the Dick Mochow Award is presented to a volunteer in recognition of their outstanding contribution to the trail. It is named in honor of Dick Mochow, a founding member of the V&E Greenline Committee in 1996 as well as long-time volunteer & supporter of the trail. He served on the committee until his passing in 2007. The first “Dick Mochow Volunteer Award" was presented at the "Walk the Line Supporters Party" in April 2010.
This year’s recipient of the Dick Mochow award for “Volunteer of the Year” is Matthew Harris. As a resident of Vollintine Evergreen & frequent user of the trail, Matthew began by becoming a regular participant in the V&E Greenline Second Saturday trail cleanup. Over the past year, he has taken on additional responsibilities as a regular maintenance volunteer by helping to maintain the landscaping on one of the busiest sections of the trail & becoming a voting member of the V&E Greenline Committee. Through his work, Matthew has demonstrated the same kind of care, initiative, & responsibility for his neighborhood that first led community members like Dick Mochow to found the V&E Greenline, which allows the V&E Greenline to remain such an important resource in the Vollintine Evergreen community for the past thirty years.
