Love to Garden or Want to Learn?

The V&E Greenline has two large garden areas along the trail and both can use your help!

The Pollinator Garden at Idlewild

On Saturdays between 9 and 10 AM (weather permitting), the Pollinator Garden needs volunteers to help tend it. Gardening tasks vary throughout the spring, summer, and fall but will always include some weeding, deadheading of flowers, mulching, and watering.

The Pollinator Garden at Idlewild is part of the Experience Memphis Gardens Tour each year.

This is a great way to have fun and meet neighbors — and no gardening experience or tools are necessary. Just show up and introduce yourself (and bring your gloves if you like). The garden is located on the trail between McLean and Auburndale. Street parking is available. See you there!

The Memorial Shade Garden

The Memorial Shade Garden is located at Kirby Station on the corner of Tutwiler and Avalon. It features a wide array of shade loving plants including native azaleas and flowering shrubs as well as many of our largest arboretum species. It is also a part of the Experience Memphis Gardens Tour.

A work schedule is being developed at this time for maintaining the garden separately from our Second Saturday volunteer days.
